Most people do not realize that only owning company stock can be bad. You should not risk putting all of your money in one place. The more money that you have invested into one single, the more at risk you are putting yourself for losing all of your money. Many people do not think about the risks that are associated with investing all of their money in one place. This is something that you should really take into consideration because it is one of the main causes for which people lose their money in investments. Whether you are going to be investing in your own company’s stocks, in other company’s stocks, or in mutual funds, it is important to make sure that you evenly spread your investments. You do not want to limit your investments to one particular fund or stock. Why? Well, if you had a farm, you would not depend on one chicken for all of your eggs. Just the same, you would not invest all of your money into one stock. What happens if that one stock does not do so well?
Your company’s stock values can change over a period of time, so you should not bank on the value remaining the same. Although it may sound blunt, the truth is that if your company does not do well, you will lose all of the money that you have invested. Money, that you worked hard for, can all end up going down the drain if you decide to put it all in one place. Many company’s stocks go through periods in which their overall performance, finances and stocks go through fluctuations. While your company’s stocks could be doing wonderful when you decide to invest your money, chances are that within the next few years, your company’s stocks could end up doing horrible and you could lose everything that you invested.
